(01)The brief
What needed solving
Each store's billing software was correct locally and invisible everywhere else. Stock figures were true only after someone exported files and re-entered them, so reordering decisions were made on numbers that were days old.
(02)Approach
How it was built

Treated the till as a producer of events, not a database to poll: each sale, return and transfer is written once and propagated.
(02)
Queued the writes so a store with a dead internet link keeps selling and catches up later instead of erroring at the counter.

Built the reporting view on top of the same event log, so no number on a dashboard is reconciled by hand.
(04)
Wrote a reconciliation report that shows mismatches explicitly — silence in a system like this is a bug, not a good sign.

What changed
Stock, sales and tax-facing reports come from one stream. Store managers see the day's numbers the same evening, and reordering stopped being an argument about whose spreadsheet was newer.
